Deception

We're born into a world that molds us as we grow
We have no thought process of our own
Everything we do is programmed and controlled
We're feed this idealized version of what life is
And we just accept it because we're only just kids

We go to to school and think everything is OK
But everywhere we look the truth is plain as day
Yet we don't speak because we're seen, not heard
The years pass and it's just more absurd
The lies get taller and the tales get wilder

People hear all kinds of stories and pass them off as facts
Here we are simply kids, seems like everything is stacked
Everything's against us, we don't even stand a chance
I wonder how it got like this, but then I know the circumstance
Yes I know how it all started

What's despairing is this mindset that we're given
Is never challenged, we're "just livin"
We're just going through the notions
We just accept situations like we're drugged with some kind of potion
When do we finally wake up? Only when we've had enough

Why is it we have eyes to see but have no vision
We have voice to speak but we have no message
We're stacked with muscle, yet we have no strength
We have brains that we don't know how to use
We have so many options, yet we don't know how to choose

Each of us, we're all infected
To some degree we're all dejected
We grow up with limiting beliefs
We have ideas that we can't release
There are words that I cannot speak

I go about my daily business
I can't help but think "My God! What is this?"
What have we become
How much longer until it's all undone
But here it is, I have digressed

As we grow old, we have beliefs that make us numb
Has anyone stopped to count the sum
We all fund war and kill our brothers
What we really need is love for one another
But how is that to be when we each hate ourselves

All our lives we're taught to hate
We go to schools that effectively segregate
It's much deeper than schools for one race
We were never designed to be separate in the first place
Yet we scheme against one another and steal each other's birth rite

We lie down in graves with hearts full of grudges
Because we've gone through life full of misjudgments
We go around kickin' cats because of mis-perception
But we fail to realize the biggest deception
